Isopropyl

Keep chillin'!I didn't find a similar thread, so I'm making one that I'll come back to in a couple of hours to post and discuss some retro goings on that I'm now working on.This generation for me, is truly one where I look back at the best of the past, while waiting for the current games to really evolve. I'm single again, and I've recently resumed with a few retro bits. Here's a couple of them, and I'll be asking for assistance and advice with config and setup.

Especially with the one below.- Firstly - as of yesterday, my Amiga 3000 lives (albeit on life support)! It now needs USB and Compact Flash storage support, plus a load of compatible software sorting for it:- I need to further my work on my lovely Amstrad CPC 6128. It works fine with floppy disks, but needs mass storage over stacks and swapping of floppies:- Then there's Hyperspin. I did an humongous download over a year ago, and I've since had it running, but I need to spend some time configuring it. I want to use my various PC peripherals with my favourite Arcade games of all time. Work in progress.- Fat PS2 - I have a Max Media USB sick for mine, and I believe that I can use it to get the HD loader working with an HDD without any mods?

I don't own any modded consoles.- Crystal Xbox - I need to soft mod this, bung in a huge HDD, and get it loaded up with software - the retro support looks fantastic. I grabbed a wireless controller for it last year. I also need to enable progressive scan, as I grabbed a component cable for it, expecting that I'd see improvements, only to find that the PAL consoles don't support 480p.- Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3. Needs a mass storage solution - I want it tidy and cased, so it's looking like it's be the DivMMC Enjoy. Costly, but it's worth it.

I also need to get some games working on the +3 that currently aren't compatible, so hacking is in order. Soon!- Dreamcast. Adobe photoshop cs 6 offline activation keygen music. I've woefully underused my Dreamcast. It gathers dust, but needs a VGA solution, so I need to find the best for it. That, and the best games. Plus loads more (Multimega/32X/Saturn/TRS-80 CoCo) - I need more Nintendo in my life, and the SNES is the place to start.

I'll be back in a bit to continue!Edited by Ryze at 17:14:01. A premium VGA box is the best thing for the Dreamcast. A few games don't support VGA though and for those you use a Code Breaker disc (the same thing that allows you to play imports) to force it. Even then some fifty or so games can't be forced though, for those you connect an RGB cable to the same box.I just use RGB SCART with my CRT for simplicities sake, but I hear VGA progressive scan looks phenomenal, much better image quality than the PS2 + component.Edited by Psiloc at 21:24:36. I've only just got back home, and I'm learning more alreadyCheers guys. So, @mal, your Ext port SD card scheme is news to me.

I have a small selection of original Dreamcast games, including a copy of Sega Rally 2 that only loads when it feels like it.I tried downloading a copy of SFIII 3rd Strike a couple of years ago, and that loaded up and worked on the second attempt. Basically, the drive may already be ropey - but I don't recall if I cleaned the lens with my magic bottle isopropyl alcoholWorks miracles, that does. Holy water!Edited by Ryze at 21:56:58.

It seems that it's having trying loading backups. Before you ask, I make sure to burn discs at the lower speed settings, use good quality media and a decent burner. I've been using this thing to play burnt media for around three or four years now. I actually bought it pre-modded, so I don't know how old it really is. The model is SCPH-77002 I think.Anyway, what I have to do now to load a game involves putting the disc in the tray thing, closing the lid, listening for that 'special loading sound' and opening the lid again and repeating the process until I hear it.Today, it took about 20 minutes of this mucking around until it finally decided to work.I'm not entirely certain, but I'm thinking there could be something wrong with the laser.

There isn't really much I can do though since I don't know of any places around my area that specialise in PS2 modding and repair. That, and lasers seem to be pretty expensive to replace, only to die out again in a few years. Maybe, it might get to the point in which replacements can't be found any longer.I don't think I can rely upon reading burnt media any longer. Is there some other relatively fuss-free alternative that works well? I have the WODE for the Wii and I like it a lot because it works just like the real thing, sans the disc.

I've also read a little of things like HDloader. Are they any good? What would you recommend in this situation? Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I checked out all the setups. It seems that to get decent loading times, I would need the network adapter and an IDE internal hard drive (along with the fat PS2) since external hard drives don't seem cut it. I might have actually gone for it, if it wasn't for the fact that compatibility still isn't as good as using discs (no support for PS1 games too). The compatibility is most important to me since I like to try a lot of obscure titles (usually translated from Japanese) and undubs. Maybe I'll check back on this alternative if it ever matches up to disc loading.I found a decent modder that fixes lasers, so fingers, toes and eyeballs crossed that everything works out.
