There are several laptops/desktops/phones/consoles that connect to my router perfectly with no problemsso what could the problem be here?Ive tried every 'easy fix' there is - updating drivers, reinstalling drivers, automatic troubleshooting fix, restarted router/laptop, disabled the 'allow computer to turn of this device to save power', did the 'netsh' resets and ipconfig/releaseand ipconfig/renew in the command prompt, and tried a clean boot. All to no avail.I constantly have 'limited connection' with a yellow triangle on the internet access icon in the tray. I haven't been able to access the internet once at home but it's fine at my friend's house.Literally everything in give tried doesn't work and it's driving me insane.
It's not that my router is incompatible because it's a BT Home Hub 2.0. Has anyone got any idea on how to solve this? I followed method 2 to the letter. Now:I have to reinstall the wi fi adapter.I cannot reinstall/update the wi fi adapter. Windows update is now broken. Though my last update was just last week and I have made no manual changes to the settings.Then, I ran the Windows updater and it experienced a problem. So I got online via ethernet and downloaded the Windows Update Troubleshooter which also did not fix the problem (error0x8007000d)Then I tried to refresh my PC.
This is also not possible (a file is missing). It asks for me to insert media in order to get the file. I have no media, as I purchased this computer with 8.1 installed and have auto updated via the web ever since I boughtit.I literally did nothing but follow official MS instructions, and now my Wi Fi appears to be permanently disabled until I take it into a shop for someone to manually reinstall the drivers (I think), assuming that following MS official instructions have notscrewed up my computer in even worse ways.There are 3 other computers running other OS in this house, and 3 smartphones, none of which has ever experienced issues like this.
Every single 'solution' that MS posts for the 'Wi Fi does not have a valid IP configuration' problem appears to be a complexworkaround of a fundamental problem with Windows 8 and 8.1. I have seen and tried at least 5 of them and spent several hours this evening on this, and I have experienced this problem ever since I bought this computer. I have kept up to date with the latest8.1 updates. Therefore this appears to be a fundamental bug that MS has no interest in admitting to or fixing. All MS gives us are ad hoc workarounds that may or may not work. I have seen this in thread after thread about this issue.I will never buy another Windows machine again, and warn everyone I know to stay far away from Windows 8.1. From the feedback I have gotten, Windows 10 is a non starter for most people.
An OS that requires me to spend hours trying 'solution' after 'solution'that may or probably won't work is not one that I am interested in. To say nothing of the hideous GUI.Windows 8.1: doesn't work right, awful GUI (half of which I never use), intractable connectivity issues, and MS' own 'solutions' broke it. What would you suggest I do besides buy a Mac ASAP?

The root cause of my problem was that DHCP was mot enabled. I had tried putting in IP address for IPv4 and IPv6 but did not help. I had ran many of the trouble shootinglinksNetwork Adapter LinkNetwork TroubleshootingWifi troubleshootingbut they keep saying they could not fix the problem.For me I opened up the Network and Sharing Center and clicked on the Troubleshoot problem link and the found the DHCP was not enabled and fixed. After that I was able to connect to my wifi and the internet without any issues.

Has anyone got any idea on how to solve this?Try this method.1) Right click on network icon on desktop. Open network and sharing center,click on Ethernet and diagnose the problem.
